Emotional Post by PM Modi on Vinesh Phogat Disqualification from Paris Olympics

Paris Olympics 2024 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an emotional post on social media after Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics. Encouraging the wrestler, PM Modi said, “Vinesh, you are a champion among champions. You are the pride of India and an inspiration to every Indian.” He acknowledged that facing challenges has always been her nature.

PM Modi further expressed his sadness about the setback, saying, “Today’s shock has been deeply saddening. I wish I could put into words how disheartened I am at this moment. But I know you will make a comeback. Facing challenges head-on is in your nature. Come back stronger, we are all praying for you.”

It is to be noted that India’s star wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Olympic competition due to exceeding the weight limit. This not only disqualified her from the finals but also cost her a medal. The Indian Olympic Association publicly announced this information.

The Indian Olympic Association explained that despite their overnight efforts, Vinesh was disqualified. On Wednesday morning, her weight was slightly over the 50-kilogram limit.

According to sources associated with the association, Vinesh Phogat was unable to maintain the 50 kg weight category before the final match for the gold medal on Wednesday morning. Vinesh was competing in this weight category in the Olympics. Her weight exceeded the standard by 100 grams. As per the competition rules, this disqualifies her from even a silver medal. Hence, only gold and bronze medals will be awarded in the 50 kg category.
