Kolkata Rape-Murder Case : In the Kolkata rape and murder case, the prime accused, Sanjay Roy, has finally confessed to his crime during a polygraph test. Sanjay admitted that he raped and murdered the trainee doctor. Before committing the crime, he visited a red-light area where he harassed a girl and asked his girlfriend for nude photos. This confession came 18 days after the incident. Sanjay made these revelations during the polygraph test conducted on August 25. Earlier, he had also confessed to the rape and murder while in police custody.
During the polygraph test, Sanjay admitted three key points:
- He raped and then murdered the trainee doctor.
- On August 8, he drank alcohol, harassed a girl in the red-light area, and asked his girlfriend for nude photos.
- Around 4 AM, he reached the hospital’s seminar hall, and later went to his friend’s house, who is a police officer.
The rape and murder of the trainee doctor occurred on the night of August 8-9 at RG Kar Medical College. On the morning of August 9, her semi-naked body was found in the seminar hall of the medical college. Sanjay was arrested on August 10. On August 14, he was handed over to the CBI, and on August 23, the court permitted his polygraph test. In court, Sanjay tearfully claimed that he had committed no crime and believed the polygraph test would prove his innocence.
Currently, Sanjay Roy is in judicial custody at the VIP ward of Presidency Correctional Home. The prison administration requested permission for him to sleep as he was exhausted from continuous interrogation.
Meanwhile, on August 24, a polygraph test was also conducted on former RG Medical College principal Sandeep Ghosh, four other doctors, and a volunteer. On August 25, the CBI raided Sandeep Ghosh’s residence and 15 other locations connected to him. Ghosh is accused of financial irregularities at the college. The Supreme Court has also taken a stern stance on this matter, seriously addressing the negligence of the police and hospital administration.
