Teachers’ Day 2024 : Every year on September 5th, Teachers’ Day is celebrated in honor of educators. This day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s second President and a revered teacher. However, did you know that several prominent leaders from Uttar Pradesh were teachers before stepping into politics? Rajnath Singh
One of the country’s leading politicians and currently serving as the Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh was a teacher before entering politics. He served as a lecturer in Physics at KB Post Graduate College in Mirzapur. It was during this time that he became associated with the RSS, which eventually led him into politics. Rajnath Singh has also served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the President of the BJP.
Mulayam Singh Yadav
The founder of the Samajwadi Party and three-time Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav had a passion for wrestling before entering politics. Alongside this, he also worked as a lecturer in Karhal before making his foray into the political arena.
Mayawati
The leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, Mayawati, was a teacher before she ventured into politics. She taught at a school in a slum area (JJ Colony) in Delhi. Later, at the suggestion of Kanshi Ram, she entered politics and went on to become the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh four times.
Kalyan Singh
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh was also a teacher before entering the political world. He had a passion for teaching from a young age and worked as a teacher at KCA Inter College in Raipur, Muzaffarnagar. After joining the RSS, he left his teaching career and became active in politics.
Murli Manohar Joshi
One of the founding members of the BJP, Murli Manohar Joshi, transitioned from the field of education to politics. After studying at Allahabad University, he worked there as a professor. He later entered politics and became one of the most prominent leaders of the BJP.
Ram Gopal Yadav
Brother of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Ram Gopal Yadav, was also a teacher before joining politics. He served as a lecturer, first in Physics and later in Political Science, at KK Post Graduate College in Etawah. Today, he is regarded as one of the key leaders in Uttar Pradesh.
